Complimentary Consultation
Duration – 15 minutes
Consultations are mandatory for all first-time colour clients. This appointment gives our stylists an opportunity to assess your hair, discuss the look you wish to achieve, and breakdown pricing. Ideally, consultations are performed 2-3 weeks before your scheduled colour appointment to allow for any potential time or service adjustments that our stylists may need to make.

Sylvie
With over 17 years of experience in the hair industry, Sylvie’s work continues to show her passion, skills, creativity and talent. She is known for her attention to detail and dedicating her time and precision in color, cut and glamorous styles for wedding events and everyday beauty. She loves connecting with all of her guests and feels the ultimate reward by bringing out the best in each individual. Inspired by the unique beauty she sees in each of her guests, Sylvie is continually honoring her crafts and techniques to create equal parts elegant and striking.
Brooke
Brooke has been a stylist since 2014. With over 8 years of experience, she continues to enjoy learning new techniques and applying them to every client authentically. Brooke is dedicated to using her knowledge to create exactly what her clients are envisioning when they sit down in her chair. She especially loves bringing to life natural lived in colour. She is reminded everyday why she loves her career when her clients leave feeling confident and satisfied.
Olivia
Olivia has spent over 7 years in the hair industry- cutting, colouring
and styling. When you’re in her chair, Olivia’s goal is to make you look
and feel your best. She focuses on the relationship she has with her
clients by listening intently to their wants and explaining their needs
to achieve their desired hair. Olivia specializes in lived-in hair
colour and when she’s not working, you can catch her spending time with
her friends and family.
Sarah
Sarah has been a part of the hair world since 2020. As our salon manager, she ensures that each client receives the highest level of customer service during their visit and leaves every appointment with a smile on their face. From organizing your bridal hair to putting you to sleep with a head massage at the sink, Sarah has you covered throughout your hair journey (and if you ever can’t find her in-salon, try checking outside with the neighbourhood dogs).
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there parking?
Yes! There is street parking located across the street. $3.25 will buy you 2 hours of time, and we can help feed the meter while you’re getting your hair done. There is also a parking lot located beside the salon. For $13.00 you can stay there all day.
Do you take Walk-ins?
Yes, walk-ins are welcome. However, we always recommend booking in advance since our books are usually fully booked in advance.
Why aren't you able to quote final pricing over the phone?
One service does not fit all; the integrity of your hair is very important to us! We want to make sure that before we tell you how much a service will cost (and how long it will take to complete) we have seen the condition of your hair, and made sure that the services you want are safe for you.
Consultations are completely complementary and can be done any time during our hours of operation.
What if I'm not able to come for a consultation before my appointment?
If you can not come in for a consultation, we will do our best to consult over the phone or via email. In the event we have a last minute cancellation at the end of the day, we can book both the consult and colour service at the same time. However, this occurrence is rare because we want to ensure that before booking a colour service, we have had a chance to discuss all options and enough time is provided for the stylist to make your hair dreams come true!
Why are your prices labeled as “Starting At”?
There are a few factors that dictate the overall price of your service. For haircuts, the price is subject to change if the stylist goes over the usual hour time block they are needed for a cut. Whereas for colour, highlights, colour correction, and other technical services, the price depends on the amount of product needed to achieve the desired look, and the amount of time the stylist needs.
What products does your salon use?
Our salon uses all Davines products. From bleach, toner, shampoo, conditioner, to the hairspray at the end of your visit. “Davines does not aim to be the largest company in the world, but to be the most beautiful and the most ethical thanks to all.” Davide Bollati, President of the Davines Group.
Do you offer kids cuts?
Salon Five Forty-Eight caters to an older demographic, however, if you inquire with your stylist about cutting a child’s hair, we will leave it up to their discretion.
Do you only accept cash tips?
If you enjoyed your experience with us then tips are greatly appreciated! We accept cash tips or if you prefer our debit machine provides a tip option- with the exemption of American Express.
Does your salon accept new clients?
Yes! New clients are more than welcome. In some cases, the stylist you’re interested in booking with may close their books if they’re over booked and do not have time to take on new clients. However, we have five amazing stylists you could book in with anytime.
Do I have to pre book my appointment?
It is not required that you pre book every appointment, but we do highly recommend it because our books fill up a couple months in advance.
